Why choose Kushies Cloth Nappies?
More and more parents are choosing 100% cotton for their baby's clothing as natural fibres feel better. Kushies are made of 100% soft cotton flannel. Cloth nappies are healthier for your baby;s skin allowing it to breathe. Not only is cotton more comfortable, it's cooler and more natural to baby's skin, especially on sensitive body parts. Why use chemical-laden disposables when you can use soft, natural cotton?
Money is always an important consideration when chosing a nappy system. This is a substantial cost saving when using cloth nappies over disposable. You can expect to change your baby approx. 7,500 times in the first two and half years, at an average cost of 50 cents for a disposable nappy, that's $3,750 you can expect to spend.
With the Kushies nappy system you can expect to pay $500 to $1,000, depending on how often you want to launder, and you can use them again for your second/third child. There are only two sizes Infant & Toddler.
Research shows disposable nappies of 1 baby, will produce 2 tons of non-biodegradable waste. We are well aware if the consequences of the reduction of our forests and the greenhouse effect. Ecological concerns are very much the forefront of today's agenda. By simply choosing cloth nappies for your baby, you are making a tremendous impact on the environment and offering your child a cleaner world to live in. What better way than to teach your child by example.
Kushies are easy to put on even a squirming baby!
The hook and loop closure system eliminates the danger of pins and allows for a fast and secure fit.
1. Wash ad dry the nappies prior to first use. This loosens the fabric and makes the cotton more absorbent.
2. Ensure the leg opening is snug by stretching the nappy out well when fitting on your baby.
- For small newborns or when in-between sizes, you can add extraliners to pad the nappy for a better fit. They're great for additional absorbency as well.
3. Adjust the waistline as snug as possible. You can further adjust the waist tabs by either fastening one tabe over the top of the other horizontally or across them in an X.
4. As a general rule, it is good to let skin breathe, If necessary, use a moisture barrier (petroleum jelly or zinc ointment) sparingly.
5. Change baby often. Changing wet or soiled nappies immediately will help to prevent the risk of nappy rash.
Wash & Care
Presoak - For soiled nappies, rinse the nappu flap portion in cold water. Fold fastening tabs closed. Half fill your nappy bucket with cold water and add 0.25 cups of baking soda, vinegar, or a additive recommended for presoaking nappies. Soak overnight.
Wash - Empty contents of the nappy bucket into the washing machine and spin out excess water. Wash in warm water with your choice of detergent, use approximately half the recommended quantity. Thoroughly rinse nappies, use a second rinse if required.
Dry - Tumble dry on a low heat setting or line dry. Nappies may take longer to dry than other articles of clothing. To shorten drying time, a dry towel can be added to the dryer to draw moisture.
